Listening to Caffeine
Can we feel caffeine through ears?
This project explores if sound alone can give us a caffeine effect. Different sound textures and vibrations (e.g. rapid acoustic modulations, intense spatial sound effect, etc.) make us feel awake, full of energy, focused, or tense. We designed two sounds to represent different levels of mild and strong arousal. User experiment showed these sounds can effectively evoke feelings of alertness and energy, similar to caffeine.
